Event Overview:

Veterans bring a unique set of experiences and skills into the workforce. However, there tends to be a disconnect in communication when it comes to translating these experiences onto a resume, job application, or interview when applying for work after leaving the military.

Veteran readiness goes beyond U.S. flags on name tags or recognition on Veteran’s Day. It's about learning how to bridge that disconnect in understanding what experiences they bring to the table and providing the opportunity to grow those skills as well as new ones within your organization.

Are you ready for basic training?

  • Military organization and rank structure
  • Job titles and codes
  • Interpreting military work history
  • Education and training opportunities
  • Questions the veteran might have for you

*1 SHRM Credit and 1 HRCI Credit pending*

    Speaker Bio:

Kendra Henry, Veterans Employment Representative, has been with Job Service North Dakota for the past 4 years, assisting veterans with job readiness. She provides one on one services for resume and interview skills, work search, labor market information, and exploration of education and training opportunities. As well as provides training classes on job seeker skills to veteran and military populations.

A self-proclaimed “military brat” she is originally from Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan, but joined the Air Force herself out of McDonough, Georgia. While her primary job was as a network technician, in her 12 years of service had the opportunity to work in training management and quality assurance. She taught classes on resiliency, first aid, CPR, and suicide prevention; motivating her to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology and Military Studies from Park University.

After her time on Grand Forks AFB, she now lives in Grand Forks, ND with her husband and daughter; happy to continue serving the service members she once served beside.
